Troubleshooting

Click a question to see the answer. Most problems take under a minute to fix.

JARVIS doesn't hear me

Try these, in order:

  1. Allow the microphone. Click the padlock (or sliders icon) next to the web address at the top of the browser. Set Microphone to Allow, then refresh the page.
  2. Use Chrome or Edge. Other browsers may not work. Open JARVIS in a normal browser window.
  3. Avoid preview windows. A small preview pane inside another program (like an editor or chat app) usually blocks the microphone. Open JARVIS in its own Chrome or Edge window.
  4. Check Windows. Open Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone. Turn on Microphone access and Let apps access your microphone.
TODO: Chrome site settings: Microphone → Allow.

Windows says “unknown publisher”

This is normal for programs from small publishers. In the blue Windows protected your PC box, click More info, then Run anyway. The installer is open source, so anyone can read what it does.

TODO: SmartScreen: More info → Run anyway.

I see a blank or black screen

The glowing 3D picture needs your graphics card to be up to date. Try:

  • Refresh the page with F5.
  • In Chrome, open Settings → System and make sure Use graphics acceleration when available is on. Restart Chrome.
  • Update your graphics driver. Open Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates. For the newest one, go to the NVIDIA, AMD or Intel website for your card.

Claude says I'm not logged in

Your Claude sign-in may have run out, or you signed out of Claude. Sign in again: open JARVIS, go to SETTINGS, and click Sign in. Log in on the Claude page, then return to JARVIS and click Check again.

Still failing? Check you have an active subscription on claude.ai. See Get Claude and sign in.

The voice sounds robotic

Without an ElevenLabs key, JARVIS uses your browser's built-in voice, which sounds flat. For a natural voice, add a free key. Follow the voice key guide.

“Port already in use”, or JARVIS won't start

A port is like a numbered door a program uses on your PC. This message means something else is already using JARVIS's door (normally number 8787). Usually it is JARVIS itself, still running from last time.

  1. Close the JARVIS window. This stops JARVIS.
  2. Wait a few seconds, then open JARVIS again from the Desktop icon.
  3. Still stuck? Restart your PC. This clears everything.

How do I uninstall JARVIS? Where is my data?

Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps. Find JARVIS, click the three dots, and choose Uninstall.

Your settings and keys live in this folder on your PC (memories are in %LOCALAPPDATA%\JARVIS). To open it, press Windows + R, paste this, and press Enter:

%APPDATA%\JARVIS

How do I update JARVIS?

Download the newest installer from the download page and run it, just like the first time. Your settings and keys are kept. There is nothing to uninstall first. The installer closes JARVIS for you if it is running.
